Not all of our courses are CPD approved, we have a range of more specialised and focused courses that have been developed to build into a broad suite of competency for those that want specialised proficiency in lightning protection, surge protection, earthing and cathodic protection disciplines.
Candidates receive technical and practical training generally around the DEHN product range and receive certification for each course undertaken. Any candidate completing all of the courses would become fully “DEHNcertified” and able to use the “DEHNcertified” nomenclature as proof of their competency and subject matter specialism.
Surge Protection Devices
SPD’s can seem like a complicated subject, using our RedLine (LV power) and YellowLine (IT & Data) ranges as a starting point, this course takes the candidates through a complete guide to the different types of devices, the different wave shapes involved, the best places to position devices and the optimum way to install devices. BSEN 62305, BSEN 61643 and BS7671 are all covered on this course.
With our interactive workshops space candidates gets a chance to see devices installed in real situations, see the devices work in simulated installs and get a chance to touch and handle devices to get a genuine feel for the best way of deploying SPD’s within their own projects.

Isolated Lightning Protection Systems
What is isolated lightning protection? Do I need it? What are the benefits? Is it applicable to my structure or site? What options do I have?
Isolated lightning protection is usually easier than people think, more costs effective than the traditional non-isolated systems, massively reduces exposure to working at height and technically safer for the building, the contents and the occupiers. This course shows you how to do it. Calculating separation distances, manipulating the rolling sphere, ensuring current division. Using the DEHN HVI products to create a system that provides the maximum protection for the minimum on-site effort.

Risk Assessment & Design
Why do we risk assess? How do we risk assess? Is it site specific? Is it accurate? Have we considered all the factors? Are we establishing the right means of mitigating risks? Can we transfer this into a cohesive design? Have we inadvertently created new risks? Can we be sure that we are meeting the required standards? Building better basics, quite simply this course aims to explain how to correctly and accurate carry out a risk assessment using the DEHNsupport tool and then how to turn that assessment into a high quality, compliant design and specification.

Cathodic Protection AC & DC Mitigation
Protecting pipelines, metallic structures, rail & infrastructure projects and costal or marine applications can all involve the fight against corrosion. Impressed current CP systems, sacrificial anodes, DC mitigation, isolated spark gaps. All these techniques can be used to prevent corrosion, protect assets and reduce the risk of dangerous failures.
Using a range of specialist products, this course is designed to help consultants, engineers and site owner/operators understand the risks and how to combat them keeping their plant, pipelines and equipment safe.
